Tim Tebow said he would not speak at the Republican National Convention despite earlier reports that the former NFL quarterback would be one of the biggest stars headlining Donald Trump’s coronation as the party’s nominee.

Tebow, who had just returned from the Philippines, said in a video posted to Instagram Thursday that he woke up to find out that he was speaking at the convention.

"It’s amazing how fast rumors fly," he said. "And that’s exactly what it is. A rumor."

Tebow said he would instead pour his energy into the Tim Tebow Foundation, a nonprofit philanthropy that helps children, rather than politics.

Media outlets reported earlier Thursday that Tebow would be speaking during the convention’s fourth night. Trump’s campaign had invited the Heisman trophy winner to be among more than 60 people speaking at the event, the New York Times reported.

The convention kicks off Monday and will feature speeches from Trump’s daughter Ivanka, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.).
