Shutdown Extends to White House Instagram, But Not Flickr

The Obama administration's partial shutdown has apparently extended to online activities, including the White House Instagram account.

As of October 1st, the account displays a message conveying updates to the account will be "limited" due to the federal shutdown:

However, the White House Flickr account appears to be functioning normally with no disruptions.

Flickr, owned by Yahoo, is headed by former Obama campaign bundler Marissa Mayer.

However Instagram, a recent Facebook acquisition, is lead by CEO Mark Zuckerberg who has notably abstained from personal political contributions. Additionally, Zuckerberg's pro-immigration PAC has ran ads supporting Keystone Pipeline approval and drilling in ANWR.

It is unclear if politics have played a role in the Obama administration seemingly deeming the less popular Flickr "essential" while abandoning Instagram.
