Protestors Have First Lady Melania Trump Trapped in Her Residence

Protesters at the G-20 summit in Hamburg, Germany prevented First Lady Melania Trump from leaving her residence on Friday.

The first lady was unable to attend the first handshake between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin due to the violent protests occurring right outside of her residence, according to the Sun.

Trump's spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, said the incident was "unfortunate" and said that local police were unable to clear the area in time.

The G-20 summit has already had multiple clashes between local security and police officers, demonstrators, and protesters.

By 3 a.m. ET, 9 a.m. local time in Hamburg on Friday, around 200 people were already on the streets causing confrontation with police, according to NBC News.

After Trump arrived in Germany on Thursday, the count of those injured reached 111 police officers and 29 civilians after a demonstration that involved over 10,000 people.
