Fox News host Laura Ingraham apologized Thursday for a tweet about Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg, which the 17-year-old high school senior used to call for a boycott of her advertisers.
Hogg's call for a boycott had an effect on TripAdvisor and Rachael Ray's pet food company Nutrish, both of which stopped backing Ingraham's show, TMZ reported.
"In our view, these statements focused on a high school student, cross the line of decency," TripAdvisor said.
Ingraham's initial tweet from Wednesday appeared to mock Hogg for his GPA after four campuses in the University of California school system rejected his application.

Hogg, who helped organize the "March for Our Lives" demonstration that drew hundreds of thousands to Washington, D.C. advocating gun control, responded by targeting her advertisers. On Wednesday night, he tweeted a list of companies that advertise on her show.
Ingraham apologized on Twitter on Thursday afternoon after TMZ reported TripAdvisor and Nutrish pulling out.
"On reflection, in the spirit of Holy Week, I apologize for any upset or hurt my tweet caused him or any of the brave victims of Parkland," Ingraham said.

After thanking TripAdvisor on Twitter, Hogg rejected Ingraham's apology and said she only wanted to retain advertisers.
"She only apologized after we went after her advertisers," he said. "It kind of speaks for itself."

Hogg has lambasted Republicans for not supporting strong enough gun-control measures. He has argued that they are complicit in mass shootings like the one at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that took 17 lives.
