Israel = Controversial, Cuba = Historic

The United States officially moved its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem on Monday. The move comes after President Donald Trump took historic action and bucked decades of foreign policy tradition to announce the U.S. would recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Reporters and cable news hosts noted the historic move by Trump but were quick to pivot to the controversy surrounding the decision. A look back at when former President Barack Obama announced the U.S. would normalize relations with the communist country of Cuba shows those in the media reported the historic action with smiles on their faces and with little to no mention of the controversy surrounding the decision.
