IRS Loses More Emails Connected to Probe

The IRS lost the emails of five more workers who are connected to the congressional investigations into the targeting of conservative nonprofit groups, the Associated Press reports.

The IRS previously said lost the emails of former IRS head Lois Lerner.

On Friday, the IRS said it had also lost emails from five other employees related to the probe, including two agents who worked in a Cincinnati office processing applications for tax-exempt status.

The agency blamed computer crashes for the lost emails. In a statement, the IRS said it found no evidence that anyone deliberately destroyed evidence.
