Cleveland Dem Councilman Arrested on DUI Suspicion

Democratic Cleveland City Councilman Zack Reed was arrested this morning on suspicion of DUI, according to the Plain Dealer.

A Cleveland police officer stopped Reed at 1:44 a.m. at East Ninth Street and Rockwell Avenue, where "the councilman reportedly failed to stop at a red light and made an improper turn," police spokeswoman Jennifer Ciaccia said. …

"After failing a field sobriety test, Councilman Reed was conveyed to the Central Prison Unit where he was booked and housed."

Reed was released from jail at around 12:45 p.m. after posting $295 of a $2,500 bond. He left the Justice Center with his attorney, Anthony Jordan. On his way out of the building, Reed brushed off Jordan's attempt to usher him quickly from a crush of reporters.

Reed has served the city of Cleveland since 2000.
