Chris Matthews Calls Sean Spicer 'Baghdad Bob'

MSNBC personality Chris Matthews on Thursday night compared White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer to the Iraqi minister of information under Saddam Hussein while discussing President Trump's accusation that former President Obama wiretapped Trump Tower.

Matthews was interviewing Rep. Karen Bass (D., Calif.) when he made the comparison.

"Today at the White House briefing, as you said congresswoman, Sean Spicer played 'Baghdad Bob' trying to defend the president's wiretapping claims," Matthews said.

"Baghdad Bob" was the moniker given to Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf, the former Iraqi minister of information, who became famous for his false claims during daily press briefings about the war in Iraq.
