U.N. Security Council Diplomat: North Korea Has Conducted Nuclear Test

A United Nations Security Council diplomat said on Monday that there has been a nuclear test in North Korea, Reuters reports:

"We've been informed by the South Koreans that there's been a (North Korean) nuclear test," a U.N. Security Council diplomat told Reuters on condition of anonymity.

A 4.9 magnitude earthquake was detected late Monday in North Korea, triggering suspicions the country had conducted its third nuclear test. North Korea previously did so in 2006 and 2009.
