Russian Foreign Ministry Tweets Out Video of Festival in Protest of Sanctions

The Russian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday sent out a message from its official Twitter account with a video of a festival in protest of new U.S. sanctions levied against Russia.

The video played a rock song in Russian while showing scenes from what appeared to be a Renaissance festival. The text accompanying the video in the tweet read, "Whoever comes to us with #sanctions, from sanctions will perish. We dedicate this video to those who try to hurt us with new sanctions!"

The video was posted to the account @Russia, which is managed by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and was published after President Donald Trump on Wednesday signed into law a sanctions bill that targets Russia, Iran, and North Korea.

The tweet and video became the subject of mockery on Twitter.
