Report: Suspected ISIS Sympathizer Indicted in Arizona for Terrorism Plot

An accused Islamic State supporter was indicted by an Arizona grand jury on charges of plotting to bomb a state Motor Vehicle Division office near Phoenix.

Authorities made the indictment public on Thursday. The FBI and local law enforcement arrested Tucson native Mahin Khan, 18, last week after residents notified authorities of suspicious behavior, the Arizona attorney general’s office said.

Khan was charged Wednesday with terrorism, conspiracy to commit terrorism, and conspiracy to commit misconduct involving weapons.

Authorities said Khan emailed an alleged member of the Pakistan Taliban confirming that he supported ISIS. Khan described himself in one email as an "American Jihadist who supports" ISIS, according to a probable cause statement filed earlier this week, and sought weapons through the communications to carry out his planned attack.

Khan dropped out of a high school in Tucson because of disciplinary issues.
