MSNBC's Joy Reid Quickly Interjects When Her Guest Uses the Term "Illegal Alien"

MSNBC host Joy Reid on Sunday lectured a Republican guest after he used the terms "illegal immigrant" and "illegal alien" to describe people who entered the United States illegally.

Republican strategist Evan Siegfried, a critic of Donald Trump, attacked the president's strategy for stopping illegal immigration, saying that his focus on building a border wall would be ineffective and his understanding of the problem was lacking.

Siegfried mockingly summarized Trump's stance as "the Mexicans are rapists ... and every illegal alien who commits a crime has Chuck Schumer on their shoulder going 'Do it! Do it!'"

"Well, we're going with 'undocumented immigrants,'" Reid interjected, in a clip flagged by NewsBusters.

"I mean, we're trying to change the conversation around here, right?" she said. "There's certain terminology, even like 'chain migration' and 'illegal aliens.' It's a throwback conversation that does feel like—it feels almost like the '80s."
