Indian Trail (N.C.) Town Council member David Waddell wrote his letter of resignation Thursday in Klingon, a language of the humanoid extraterrestrials from the Star Trek universe.
According to News 14 Charlotte, Waddell said he did it as an inside joke, but he was still called unprofessional by Mayor Michael Alvarez.
Waddell said he plans to run as a write-in candidate in the upcoming U.S. Senate race to unseat Sen. Kay Hagan (D., N.C.).
